Seb SandersSeb Sanders is probably the most consistent English jockey of the last 5 years, having ridden over 600 winners. He was finally crowned champion jockey in 2007. This feat was all the more special for the fact Sanders was the first jockey for years to be crowned champion without the backing of a really big stable.
Seb Sanders StatisticsSeb’s retainer is with trainer Sir Mark Prescott. Seb has an impressive strike rate and level stake profit for the stable on horses aged 3 and older.
Avoid the Sanders/Wall combination especially 2 year olds. Seb Sanders Racecourse StatsYarmouth, Lingfield and Redcar are where Seb Sanders seem to perform best, having a healthy strike rate and level stake profit at all of these courses. Also watch out for Seb on horses aged 4 and older at Brighton racecourse. Seb at Yarmouth
Race TypesThe statistics on the different race types probably make the most interesting reading. Seb shows a decent record in Selling, Claiming and Group races but his record in handicaps is not so good and his record in maidens is quite poor. The maiden’s can likely be put down to Sir Mark Prescott’s approach to maiden races. Race Types 2003 - 2007
The reason for Group races could be put down to a huge motivation to win theses races as Seb gets less rides in these races than most of the top jockeys and also the huge prize money on offer. With sellers and claimers, often the horses have ability but need someone who is strong in the saddle and knows how to handle these types of horses to get the best out of them. They often win at rewarding odds because of poor form in previous races, possibly with less able jocks on board. Interestingly, fellow 2007 Champion Jockey Jamie Spencer has similar race stats.
