Default Rip Van Winkle - Latest News

Good Afternoon

My contact Connor has confirmed to me that Rip Van Winkle will not run in the English 2000 Guineas.

Instead, he will run in the Irish 2000 Guineas followed by the Epsom Derby as long as he comes out the race in Ireland ok.

It is disappointing news as I was told he was the No.1 hope for Ballydoyle. Johnny Murtagh will now ride Mastercraftsman although they think he hasn't been totally burning up the gallops yet. He should be better in a few weeks time.

Good Afternoon

Mastercraftsman and Westphalia will be running in Saturday's English 2000 Guineas now that Rip Van Winkle is out.

Does anyone have any antepost bets on Rip Van Winkle? I certainly have which is a disappointment for me.

It isn't drifting yet and rumour is rife around now. I won't mind if it is pulled I did end up backing it as a saver but it was only to cover any losses, if it is pulled I'll be a bit pissed off that I botherd with it because I always thought the Irish Guineas and Derby would be the plan for it. Personally I don't really mind whether people decide to run their horses or not if you don't like the rules of antipost betting then don't do it but I bet if Jim Bolger was doing this everyone would be right on his case about it O'Brien and Ballydoyle seem virtually immune from criticism.

I'm going to stick my neck on the line again and say Sea the Stars is a crazy price rain has fallen on Newmarket and it is still >20/1 on betfair, the price is actually the only thing that really puts me off it and that is the sort of thinking that stops you doing things like backing Mon Mome to win the national.

I backed both Mastercraftsman (33/1, 20/1, 10/1, 6/1 & 5/1) and Rip Van Winkle (25/1, 6/1 & 5/1) antepost. I would win just over £1,300 if Mastercraftsman wins and nearly £300 if he is placed. I would win just over £900 if Rip Van Winkle wins and to be honest I want him to run because two chances are better than one. Also, after getting 25/1 I would feel sick for that reason, especially only 4 days away from the race. I have been given the news that he is going to miss the English 2000 Guineas, from my contact who is normally right. He tipped me Quevega and Cooldine at at the Cheltenham Festival. He always told me 10 days before the Cheltenham Festival that Hurricane Fly would not run and that Patrick Mullins would be riding Cousin Vinny in the Supreme Novices Hurdle. I came on here and made everybody aware before the trainer gave confirmation of this.

Good afternoon

I just received a call from Connor. The team at Ballydoyle have decided to wait with Rip Van Winkle and run him at the Curragh in two weeks time instead of going to Newmarket. It was a 50/50 decision at the injury is not too bad but they feel he needs another week to fully recover. The announcement will be made tonight/early tomorrow I have been told.

Thanks

Steve

I've done a small Trixie at Labrokes

2000 Guineas Mastercraftsman 5/1
1000 Guineas Rainbow View 5/4
Irish 2000 Rip Van Winkle 6/1

Pays 165.75 points for 4 points

If I stood to win £900 if it won and I knew it was a non-runner I'd be laying it on betfair but its still trading at just over 5/1. Your money alone should knock it out a point or two if the whole stable knows I would expecting it to be 12/1 by now.

I'm not saying you aren't being straight with us Allpress I'm just surprised that no one is cashing in on this information
