Scoop 6 Select

Scoop 6 Select

The less said about last week’s attempt the better with only one winner and a non runner. There were no winners of last Saturday’s Scoop 6 but 390 people managed to land the place money, each receiving £139.40. The bonus fund was also won so now stands at £40,803.

Here are our thoughts on this week’s Scoop 6 races. It’s a slimmed down version this week which some of you may think is a good thing!

Haydock 1.55 – A huge field go to post for this grade 3 hurdle. Howard Johnson’s Caravel looks interesting now he goes handicapping having won 3 novice hurdles on the bounce. Right at the bottom of the weights, Hot Diamond could go well at a big price.

Lingfield 2.10 – This race looks as though it could be quite straightforward for the Walter Swinburn trained Laudatory. He won well last time and 83 doesn’t seem like a harsh mark to follow up from. At bigger odds, course and distance winner Kaabari makes some appeal.

Ascot 2.15 – It look like a more impossible Scoop 6 than normal with the 3rd leg, the Victoria Cup, having 29 runners. Prescription under Seb Sanders warrants respect but this filly is too short in the market for my liking on what she has achieved thus far. Mr Macattack gets in here on a nice weight and won in very impressive fashion last time albeit in a weak race. Fishforcompliments should go well under his talented apprentice after finishing 2nd to Mr Hardy last time. That horse has franked the form by winning again this week.

Nottingham 2.25 – I’m not a fan of these longer distance handicaps really. Sri Kuantan won last time but has been a bit inconsistent in previous starts and is probably worth taking on again. Silk Hall should go well even under top weight but at a bigger price, Four Miracles can bounce back to form now dropped in grade.

Haydock 3.05 – Outsider of the field Sammy The Snake was quite well supported on his first run for sometime at Kempton recently. Although he finished last of 5, he did show that he still retains a decent level of ability and is a big price for me at 20/1. Top weight Appalachian Trail won this race last year and although he has disappointed since, he’s worth chancing off this mark.

Lingfield 3.45 – A decent fillies stakes to finish this weeks Scoop 6 with £65,000 in prize money on offer. I’m very keen on the chances of the William Haggas runner Damaniyat Girl. She put up a great performance chasing home Fantasia at Newmarket last time and the Haggas stable had a decent winner at Chester on Friday.

Blue Square usually offer 10% cashback on the Scoop 6 and also give new clients a £100 free bet.

Weekend Racing Preview – 2008 Champion Stakes

Friday, October 17th, 2008

There are six meetings this Saturday with action from Catterick, Cheltenham, Cork, Kelso, Newmarket and Wolverhampton. Wolves is an evening meeting, a seven race card from 6.20 through till 9.20.

There are 7 races live on Channel 4. The 2.05, 2.35, 3.10 and 3.50 from Newmarket, the 2.20 and 3.25 from Cheltenham and the 3.35 from Catterick make up their coverage.

If you back the winner of a live Channel 4 race at 4/1 or bigger, Bet365 will give you a free bet of up to £50 on the following Channel 4 race. This is a great offer for all you Saturday armchair punters.

The race of the day is the Group 1 Emirates Airline Champion Stakes. 11 runners go to post for what looks a fascinating renewal. The last two Champion Stakes have been won by French trained runners. This year they are represented by Russian Cross and Full Of Gold. Russian Cross has been supplemented for the race at a cost of £30,000 and has the man that always seems to come up trumps in the big races Olivier Peslier on board. Andre Fabre’s chance is a 9/2 chance to make it a three timer for France.

New Approach currently heads the 2008 Champion Stakes betting at 11/8 and it’s very hard to pick holes in his form. Against him is the fact only one favourite has been successful in the last ten years. Can New Approach buck the trend?

The day’s other big race is the totesport.com Cesarewitch, a Class 2 Heritage Handicap. The betting is currently headed by the super progressive Askar Tau who looks a Group horse in the making and should prove hard to beat if getting the trip. The 5/1 on offer could look like a steal at 4.00pm.

Another interesting contender is Mamlook from the David Pipe stable. The yard obviously mean business having booked Ryan Moore for the ride. He ran a massive race at Ascot in the Ascot Stakes Handicap and is sure to be thereabouts. Mamlook is a 9/1 chance with William Hill.

Bumper Scoop 6

I know it sounds like I’m repeating myself every week but honestly, nobody managed to find the winners of the Scoop 6 for what feels like the 100th successive week! The win fund is now £386,105 and is sure to go over the £500,000 mark tomorrow. It’s worth £2 of anyone’s money. The place dividend last week paid £1,645.90 and didn’t look especially hard to find.

Check out our Scoop 6 guide if you want to know exactly how the popular Tote bet works.

The Scoop 6 races are all live on Channel 4, they are as follows;

2.05 Newmarket
2.20 Cheltenham
2.35 Newmarket
3.25 Cheltenham
3.35 Catterick
3.50 Newmarket

Welcome to the EBA Blog

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Hello and welcome to the brand new EBA blog.

This is a little idea I had where I will posting daily horse racing news and other bits and pieces.

I know I haven’t made it sound very exciting yet but I promise it will be really good!

The site and the forum won’t be changing at all but our new news (ok, not just news) blog will hopefully mean you have even less reason to go exploring elsewhere for your horsey related needs.

Watch this space…
