Cheltenham 2010 – Coral Cup

Coral Cup

Coral Cup

Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle is an ultra competitive race that is often subject to some serious gambles. The race has been sponsored by Coral since its inception in 1993. Favourites have a poor record in the Coral Cup (The last winning favourite was Xenophon in 2003) and Irish raiders have a good record in recent times.

When making a selection for the Coral Cup, keep lightly raced horses on your side. The majority of winners in recent years have had less than 10 runs over hurdles. The Pipe and Hobbs yards are also worth a second look.

The Coral Cup market doesn’t take shape until nearer the start of the Cheltenham Festival. Here are a few pointers to help you when making your selection for this race and be sure to check out our horse racing forum for tips and advice on the 2010 Coral Cup.

Although there are a number of gambles on the day of the race, favourites in the Coral Cup have a poor record with only one winner from the last fifteen. A lot of the gambles come to nothing so don’t be afraid of going against the crowd and punting a horse at big odds. There have been winners at 33/1 twice and 25/1 in the last ten years as well as three others in double figures.
